I have discovered a number of good mapping programmes in the last few years but this one from France for world-wide street maps has everything, The Map (fully zoom able), The Co-ordinates, The Weather, The Time, and an excellent trip planner. A little out on the detail for New Zealand but the best I have seen yet

If you want Topographical maps "Topomap" V2 for New Zealand is hard to beat. It is not an online product. Basically licensed to the lands and survey maps

A reasonably good set of maps based in UK memory hungry though.

Multimap a good product most hotels and B&B's use this one as their Locator map, by going to the bottom level of map you can pick out the UK mapping co-ordinates

Very useful for locating places

Ordinance Survey Britain’s Government Mapping Service with the UK reference system you drop the x and y co-ordinate, and the first number of the reference. You then need to find the 2 alpha characters from an ordinance map. Keying these into your GPS you can then change reference on the GPS to WGS 84, which will present the UK reference in the more universally accepted heading, degrees, and decimals of a minuteOrdinance Survey http://www.ordsvy.gov.uk
