Dilip, a turbaned Sikh, comes from the Northern Indian State of Punjab. He attended the private colonial Himalayan school of Sanawar, before gaining a BA in Arts in Chandigarh. Thereafter, he graduated from the esteemed Hotel and Hospitality Institute in Austria, and then attained an MBA in Alaska. Dilip has lived and worked in several countries and speaks some 6 languages. Now he is a New Zealand citizen. Vanta, also now a NZ citizen, was born in Malaysia. She worked for the United Nations and then the British High Commission. After migrating to Canada, she worked at the University of Toronto, and for architectural and geophysical firms. Vanta is an accomplished Kathak Indian classical dancer and enjoys pottery. She is married to Fred Haering who has been responsible for the construction of all the restaurants. Aminder Pal or AP is our Manager. AP comes from Punjab and has many years experience working with top-notch hotels like the Shangrila and Oberoi Hotels. He is well known here and mingles well with the customers and creates a great lively atmosphere wherever he goes. We love him and rely highly on him. INDIAN SUMNER Indian Sumner has been described by customers local or overseas as the funkiest Indian restaurant around town. Rimu tables connected to porcelain with saris decorate the walls and painting for sale. What started as only a takeaway turned out to be the most sort after restaurant for its petite, cozy, warmth and approachable friendly staff. NEW NEW NEW We recently opened INDIAN SUMNER BANQUET HALL and can accommodate large bookings and cater for parties, birthdays, weddings. INDIAN FENDALTON Our second restaurant Indian Fendalton is located at the corner of Ilam and Clyde roads. We again feature a kaleidoscope of Indianesque artwork, texture and colour. Bev Winslade Bowden, a famous Christchurch artist spent hours creating much of the wall artwork, with particular highlight given to the much-heralded toilets – "a talk of the town". Experience the difference here with delicious foods and ambiance. INDIAN OCEAN On the other side of the scale, engineered with true Indian flair who’d have thought we would pick yet again a grand location overlooking the estuary to provide aromas of scrumptious Indian cuisines to our customers and friends. Fred has taken much of his time getting this restaurant to a new style of dining.CLOSED ON MONDAYS Please check with the restaurant for daily availability of items on the menuPayment Methods: payment can be made by cash, Eftpos, and all major credit cards.
