Sumner School's new hall was opened yesterday by Prime Minister John Key, after the February 22 earthquake delayed its original opening planned a day later.
At a mock press conference, pupils questioned Key about his workload, taxes, earthquake recovery, his preferred super-power and his favourite moment of the royal wedding.
He told pupils his favourite part of the royal wedding was the Queen showering confetti on Prince William and his bride as they left Buckingham Palace. (chch press)
Evans Pass Road closure
Evans Pass Road will be closed during the day from Monday 2 May 2011 to
vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians between Sumner and Summit Road. There
will be no access to Sumner via Summit Road.
The closure is because of work to remediate unstable rock above Evans Pass Road. There is an extremely high risk of rockfall during this tim
eThe road will be closed from 2 May to approximately 20 May between 8am and 5pm. The road will be open each night.
The end date for the work is subject to change
The Ferrymead Bridge has been reopened to heavy vehicles by Civil Defence.
direct bus services to Sumner now resumed. Arrangements for school buses to and from Sumner will be advised next week.
Sumner Borough Council building
The buzz is that the two story portion may be demolished, and the single story Hall may be retained. Lets all work to make sure this is true as this will in future be an important part of our future.
21st April
The Community and Public Health division of Canterbury District Health Board has lifted the health warning at Taylors Mistake and in Lyttelton Harbour.
Water in both these areas is now suitable for recreational use.
The parade will commence at the All Saints Church Wakefield Ave, and procede to the hollywood theater. A function afterwards will be held at the sumner fire station Wiggins Street.
